An Endodontist is a dental specialist whose job is to save your tooth from needing to be extracted. This is done through a procedure called root canal therapy. Our endodontists have gone through extra school to become an expert in the tooth root system.
If you are experiencing persistent pain in your tooth or jaw you should contact your Dentist to see what the cause is. Pain is a common indicator that you may require a root canal.
Is your tooth sensitive when you are drinking cold water or when eating ice cream? What about when you bite into warm food or drink your morning coffee?
If you notice discoloration in your tooth this may be a sign of an infection in your tooth’s pulp (the inner nerves and blood vessels at the center of your tooth).
Are your gums swollen around a painful tooth? Or does it look your you have a pimple on your gums? If so you likely need a root canal.
Cracking your tooth from biting down on hard candy, getting hit in the mouth while playing a contact sport, or any other accident can damage the nerves in your tooth. Even if your tooth doesn’t break trauma to a tooth needs to be looked at by your dentist to evaluate if you need to have root canal therapy.
